TACTICAL FITNESS PREP COURSE
26 Jan
Is your fitness level holding you back from a career in the military or in law enforcement?
Are you currently applying for entry-level police jobs, or considering joining the military, and want an extra edge with your fitness?
Or are you simply curious about what fitness tests the military and law enforcement imposes on their members?
If so, you should check out CrossFit Portland’s new Tactical Fitness coached by Brad Robertson!

CrossFit Portland Coach Brad Robertson is a decorated local law enforcement officer and Army Veteran. He is an instructor for the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT), required for State of Oregon entry-level law enforcement officers.
As a former SWAT operator, he’s also familiar with the level of fitness necessary to excel in a tactical setting.

In CrossFit Portland Tactical Fitness, Coach Brad combines his CrossFit Level One coaching skills, his knowledge of military and law enforcement fitness testing, and real-world experience to better prepare athletes for a variety of fitness tests.
Athletes will learn critical exercises and methods to maximize their performance, especially on the ORPAT, but also on fitness tests given by the DEA, ATF, FBI, the US Marshals, and all branches of the military.
Additionally, the course will integrate basic self-defense tactics, team-building exercises, and long-term health education tips.
This course is open to everyone. All levels of fitness are welcome, though spots are limited to no more than 10 athletes. Enroll today!
This course will run for four weeks and is comprised of 12 one-hour classes. Class times will be 7:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8am Saturdays. The first class starts Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30pm.

Sounds like a great program, Brad. Maybe we should all do the ORPAT test as a benchmark? 1 question though:
Why would a SWAT team be hunkering down in front of the high-walled and apparently heavily fortified compound of an individual or group with an “I support THE LORDS army who is on the lords side Joel?” sign clearly displayed on the facade of their place of worship? That picture is from Montana, right?
@Kooz- The picture is from Montana and the suspect there did have some unusual religious views and a following. The suspect there opened fire on deputies during a disturbance and threw improvised explosives at us. He barricaded his own compound and was stockpiling weapons. He surrendered after a 72 hour standoff, and no one was hurt. I’m the guy covering for the deputy standing on the pickup. He was shooting out security cameras that were revealing SWAT’s setup locations.
New for the XBOX and PS3, “Call of Duty: Montana Warfare”
Joking aside, seems like it would be hard to do this job if you are slow and out of shape…
@XX, hard to do the job, and dangerous, not to mention the more common difficulties of running around with 100+lbs. of gear and not getting injured. I see sandbag getups as one prescription for success, and maybe some log drills?
I would love to attend this!! Will it be offered again? If so, when?
I am am already a member of CFPDX. The problem is that I am currently in the Army Reserves and will be away on training on Sat Feb 25th, and have reserve obligations often multiple weekends a month (conflicts with the Sat class, part of the 12 classes). I love this idea but find it ironic that the Army poses schedule conflicts to an Tactical Fitness Prep Course…
@Tia- just email me and I’d be glad to work out class times to adjust for your Army Reserve schedule, if you’re interested.
I knew that was our beloved Big Sky Country. There’s one on every corner, or in some cases hectacre.
