Do you prefer team or individual workouts? I like team workouts out best. I like the strategy and it helps with breaking through mental barriers. I always tend to work harder if I feel others are counting on me and I might just do something I didn’t think possible. Strategy can be important too…how to manage rests and who does what/when when you have limited time to complete tasks at hand. It adds another dimension to getting a good time on WODs.

Which type of workouts do you prefer? Post your thoughts to comments.

On Ramp Week 4 Day 1, getting some with the “Stadium” workout from the CrossFit Games. Time to put everything we’ve learned to the test and everyone worked it hard! It was exciting to watch and great job everyone.

Yesterday was a big PR day!

I didn’t catch all of them so please post any PRs I missed to comments. Also, thanks everyone for dropping by and having some refreshments and ribs. We’ll need to do more impromptu hang outs like that!

Audrey and Des loaded the “big wheels” onto the womens bar and hang power cleaned 123! Des went up another 5 and got 128 as well. Have you two even met since you come to completely different classes? Awesome work.

Roger, stick that bum out or Rochelle is going to put that PVC pipe to good use…

I agree – I love team workouts!! It hold you accountable on a different level. I really like working with people who have different strengths then me – It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other and meet new people!!!

I definitely work harder on a team. And it’s a great friend builder because you share a common experience when you all feel like you’re going to die.

Yay for Des and Audrey and everyone else’s PRs! WOOT!

Des, that was awesome! Did you expect that? Isn’t that starting to creep towards a body weight power clean??? Not bad for a chronic runner turned into a CrossFitter :)

Sometimes, I dread the solo workouts so much I look forward to them. They take you to a very clear place in your mind and its just you and the task at hand.

Wow. I do LOVE team WODs because there is a unique sense of accomplishment that you get when you share the pain with your teammates. A good team WOD is full of surprises. Sometimes, even the best strategy goes out the window, and people do the impossible. Plus, it’s so much fun! Where else other than CrossFit could a typical workout be a competitive team event?

Individual WODs are great too, but the mindset is a little different. Good thing one of the keys to CrossFit is constant variety, so we get to enjoy the highs and lows of both!

I like some WODs with team(CFPDX). My favorite WODs are SHDP, Goblet Squat, KB Swing, and Back Squat, Jump box, and Deadlift, Sumo Deadlift, but I only have little trouble with Wall Ball and jump burpee. But I need to practice the Wall ball and jump burpee. I like the WOD’s, but I always focus on work outs. It is very important for my work out and good muscles.

I like solo workouts because all my weaknesses are exposed. There is nobody to pick up my slack or make up for my weak points. That being said, I feel like all workouts done in a group of people you care about are team workouts.

Watching someone share the same pain and accomplishment is more rewarding and exciting than whatever I could accomplish myself. I also feel a sense of responsibility to the group to try to give my best on any given day whether it’s a solo or group workout. The effort each of us brings to the workout is contagious and being around people who are busting their butt inspires me to give more and do better myself. It’s definitely harder for me to have a great workout when I don’t have you guys (and girls) around to inspire me and when i don’t feel responsible for trying to do the same for all of you.
