Jessica’s ( my fiance as of 10-4-2009! ) dad came to visit us this past weekend and he stopped by the gym to see what CrossFit is all about. Jessica’s dad is 68, born and raised in South Korea, and it was very interesting to hear about his physical education experience back in high school. He tumbled, learned how to use parallel bars, and even worked with rings. This was standard education for everyone. Checkout that false grip! Looks like you never forget :)

Sam, happy birthday. Good work on your personal WOD yesterday! Rachel, so glad we have you in class! You bring the energy every time and congrats on fighting for those 20 pull ups.

Josh, a recent On Ramp graduate, just got checked up with his doctor recently. His doctor was stunned at the changes and wanted to know what he has been doing differenty – CrossFit (short, high intensity exercise) and a strict Paleo diet. Congrats Josh on all your hard work and commitment to a healthier lifestyle!

We love hearing from CrossFit Portland members who have moved away from Portland and still keep CrossFit in their life. Doctor Ted Lin is once such person and we want to share his recent accomplishments. If you remember Ted, he was here last summer for a few months and just getting into CrossFit. Looks like it stuck!

Hi Scott, Rochelle, Xia Xi,

I hope that you guys have been well up at CrossFit Portland! It’s been awhile, but I wanted to drop a line to let you guys know how I was doing and say thank you. A little recap to jog your memories: I found out about CrossFit through my ex-girlfriend, who was a CrossFitter down in SoCal. At the time (last fall), I was on assignment up in Portland as a locum tenens doctor, and I joined the gym for a few months while I was up in Portland. I enjoyed my time up there, and it was up at CrossFit Portland that I started to really get into CrossFit and look closely at my fitness and my overall wellness.

Since leaving Portland, I’ve been working out at CrossFit SoCal, and last week, I completed my 3rd ever triathlon, which was the Las Vegas 1/2 Ironman. It was huge for me, because at the beginning of the year, I didn’t know how to swim, and I had to hire a swim coach to teach me. My workouts consisted of CrossFit and CrossFit Endurance only, and I really took off when I started to focus on my Paleo diet and nutrition.

I wanted to say thank you for providing a great atmosphere that got me started in CrossFit. After a year since discovering CrossFit, my life has certainly been transformed!

Best,

Ted
