Cossack squat switches

For this Who’s Who feature we have Shane.  I always enjoy Shane’s presence in my classes.  He attacks each workout with intensity and is always enthusiastic about what we are doing.  He came into Crossfit with a good strength base, and i am looking forward to him setting more PR’s in the future. If there is ever a rowing workout you want Shane on your team.

How were you introduced to Crossfit? I work with Nick G., should I say anymore?  Surprisingly it took almost nine months of Nick constantly talking about Crossfit before I joined.  Now I’m “that guy”.
Favorite WOD/lift:  Any one that I can beat Nick G. at.  Seriously though,  pretty much any lifts except for overhead squat.
I have always wanted to:  live in Europe.  I have traveled through most of Europe but it I think it would be a whole new experience to live there for a few years.
1 word people use to describe me: mellow
Outside of the gym: I like riding my motorcycle and drink Portland’s numerous micro-brews but not at the same time , of course.
Something nobody knows about me or would be surprised to know about me:  I was on a Crew team in High School. (rowed port in a eight man boat)  I spent many tortuous winters erging.  It is actually nice to be back on the erg and I hope to eventually meet or beat my old 2000 meter time of 6:40. ( I have a ways to go)
Favorite physical activity outside of Crossfit: wakeboarding.
Favorite place to eat in Portland:  Flavour.  The sausage maple waffle is the best.
Song that gets me pumped up for a workout:  Ramstein
Proudest accomplishment:  Making health and fitness a priority in my life.  After graduating from college I stopped exercising and had a horrible diet. Joining Crossfit and eating a semi-paleo diet has made all the difference in my quality of life.

That explains it. Shane had to have a physical background to come so far so fast. Rip those pull-ups!

The mountain name is the Audobon in Colorado (over 13,000 Feet), and it took Shane 4 hours and 23 minutes and 2 seconds to climb it and he did yell, “TIME!!!” at the top of it….just something else he beat me in.

Shane is also a kickballer and Dodgeballer but he is too modest to mention.
