Then:

Row 500 M
40 squats
30 situps
20 push
10 pull ups

You’ve heard this once and you will probably hear it again: It is easy to do what you are good at but much more rewarding to struggle and overcome your weaknesses. On Monday, all of us got stronger by working through a weakness – the handstand push up. There are many ways to scale the exercise so don’t think you have to be able to do a handstand. The HSPU is probably one of the most difficult exercises in a workout and it is no coincidence that its roots are in gymnastics and mastering our own body weight. A true HSPU, a mighty goal, is done on elevated bars(parallettes) and the head descends past the hands. Awesome strength and body control to accomplish this feat!

Thanks to Danielle and Leif who visited us from CrossFit Santa Cruz. Danielle has been a CrossFit trainer for years at CrossFit HQ and her passion and knowledge of CrossFit was truly a pleasure to be around! Thanks for visiting us and we look forward to stopping by your box when we are in Santa Cruz!

Also a big welcome to Kimberly, Jason, and Sean on their first CrossFit Portland workout! Sean started Crossfit just a little bit ago in Athens, GA and recently moved to Portland. Jason has gotten a little tired of the gym routine and is looking for something different. Kimberly just moved here as well and is trying out CrossFit for the first time. Please welcome all of them when you see them!

Thank you so much for the hospitality and kind words. Leif and I got in a great workout and were thrilled to meet yet another group of kind, humble, generous athletes.
