For this next Who’s Who we have Jason

How were you introduced to Crossfit?
Josh Walker. We have been buds all the way back to 8th grade. I was avoiding gluten and dairy, so he took me out for some tequila-soda-lime. The next thing I know, Xai Xi is hollering at me to squeeze out one more pull-up. Been adjusting my life around classes ever since.
Favorite WOD/lift:
KAREN. Though I feel awful in some ways after this workout, I also feel awesome. It was the first workout I showed up to pre-onramp so it holds a special place in my heart. I thought I was going to die. When I didn’t die, I realized that I loved it.
Everything else. Every class I go to, I learn something about myself and the cool people who hang out at cross fit.
I have always wanted to
Kite-board. Trying to limit hobbies though.

1 word people use to describe me:
Short. Well my friends say that anyway. I need new friends.
Outside of the gym I like to
Go and see music or get some food/drink with my lovely wife. She is so cool to hang out with. The two or three times a year we get out are like going to Disneyland for me.

Something nobody knows about me or would be surprised to know about me:
I was the first drummer for Portland’s infamous Sweaty Nipples and still do unplugged versions of songs every now and again for the kids. My daughter says “Daddy…not pretty!”
Favorite physical activity outside of Crossfit:
Fly fishing, hanging out by a river, golf.

Favorite place to eat in Portland:
MacDonalds. No kidding. I just don’t eat there any more for ethical/nutritional/philosophical/geopolitical reasons. But if you put a filet of fish and a big mac in front of me right now, I am not sure I wouldn’t eat it. I probably wouldn’t, but maybe. That’s messed up, right?!
Song that gets me pumped up for a workout:
Anything off “High and Dry” by Def Leopard. Any song by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Often though, I would rather have no music.

Proudest accomplishment:
Having a child, marrying the love of my life, quitting a job and opening up a new practice on my own. I did it the cross fit way… … for time. Did it all in less than one year. I have not seen anyone beat my time for that WOD. I learned from the HBO series, “Big Love” that you can make this WOD harder by adding more wives. Man! – that show stresses me out.

Shoulder rehab, 3 sets of:
Barbell row x 8 (40/50/60kg)
Scap pushups x 8
DB external rotations x 8 (12/12/12lb)
3×10 scap raises (12/20/30lb)
Ring dips: 1:32
Man, the Sweaty Nipples. Haven’t thought about that band for years! Nice.
J, where’s the haiku?
Jason,
I feel like the last time I saw you was the first week I joined here. At least I get to see your face on Who’s Who! Hope to see you at a WOD soon or at least for some Podnah’s afterwards.
p.s. Your kids are beautiful.. you need to show them off at the gym sometime.
See everyone soon! Be back in the gym on Friday!
Was I yelling Jason? I thought I was just being encouraging
Glad you are on board and most radical restaurant choice so far!
Yay Jason!!! Love WOD’ing with you and look forward to many more to come
Hilarious Jason ! Glad to have you back in the AM class. Sweaty nipples is quite something to ponder for your potential “new friends”
Macdonalds? Where is this place you speak of? Would love to give it a try.
Sweaty Nipples?? Great band name…
From the Westin Beijing
3 rounds for time:
Run 800M
25 burpees
25 OH walking lunges – 20kg plate
22 min flat, lost some transition time having to start up the treadmill but this was tougher than I thought…75 burpees suck…tomorrow morning going for a sub 20 min 5K row…we shall see.
After all the Ab workouts from Monday & Tuesday, I feel like Homer in that episodes of The Simpsons where he was a sideshow attraction at Lallapalooza as the guy who got shot in the gut with a cannonball…
Jason- it is always great to work out with you, but truthfully, you were a real life-saver when I blew my back out a few months ago. Seriously, if anyone is looking for a GREAT chiropractor, Jason is amazing!
Jason, I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting you, but the cleverness of your who’s who makes me want to brave the 6:30am. Awesome!
Jason’s got the skillz for sure. At least I reassuring you that you haven’t broken your foot, and that some people think some of the lifts we do are potentially dangerous.
Anyway, today was a lesson in failure. When it hurts your shoulder to lift a pen or to type, don’t expect record numbers in your workout.
Presses – 5@ 120, #6 was failed press (all cleaned from ground)
Push presses, all cleaned from ground to start, 3×120, 3×135, 2×150, clean/failed press@ 170
Ring Dips: 22 in 4 mins
Burpee/rope climb: 3:47
Jason- it’s always great to have you in the morning WOD’s!!! we miss you in the am!!
I also just recently got to meet your lovely wife. I hope to see you two in the morning WOD’s soon
Don’t be surprised if I roll into Friday’s 0630 class with a stale filet’o'fish and le big mac, since McDs doesn’t start serving those until after 1030
McDonald’s french fries
Perfect for those crazy nights
When you drink too much.
Worked out with Madoc and Justin; great to meet you both… excellent rhythm working out with a group of three and doing three reps per minute
Presses – 5@ 140, all cleaned from ground
Push presses, all cleaned from ground to start 3×140, 3×165, 3×175, 2×185

That’s what I get for copying and pasting… typos!

Hey all,
It has been so great getting to know you all! What a great place Scott and Roch and Xi Xia have created to hang out with cool people and challenge ourselves.
Can’t wait for the Fri morning am WOD.
Amy – I know. We took three weeks off for travel and sick kids and general laziness. Back on it now. It was great hanging with you, Josh and Nick G that night.
XX – It has always been the best encouragement you have given! Onramp with you and Roch and Jessica was a great into.
Jen – you are a rock star disguised in a gymnast/nurse body. Great working out with you!
Paul – You are my best “rack buddy” – if that isn’t too weird to say. See you in the morning.
Josh – You are the most strict paleo I know. Some day I will show you where this magic place is and you will be changed forever.
Cory – I am just glad we have never had to wrestle. Thanks for the nice words. People really just heal themselves. You attacked this latest injury in a very intelligent way. Inspiring. Can’t wait to meet your twins. Knowing you and the others will be there is what gets me out of bed in the morning to work so hard.
Sara – I will make the occasional afternoon class. I will be wearing black convers and expect an introduction.
Madoc – What a versatile guy. To be able to deadlift 330+ and have the skillz to apply the needles.. ..very cool.
Shelby – So much heart with every WOD. You are an inspiration to work out with. And you hang out with a really cool guy also.
J – Great hiaku. The world can always use more art. I was inspired to see your “who’s who”. To see someone have a vision and stick to it is the highest ideal.
I know… …long response
