Superwoman

Thanks to everyone that came to the open house! We loved helping everyone play around in the gym and had a little bit of fun ourselves with the “dream machine” on the rings. Looking forward to meeting all the new people in class in the upcoming week.

The Snatching Bear was intense. All that O-lifting gets you fired up no? We scaled the workout by using a variety of weights from a simple PVC pipe to 100 lb loaded bar (yikes Jay). After the workout, we watched Rochelle take flight!

“Snatching Bear”

The Bear Has Teeth

20 minutes, each minute on the minute perform the following.

5 Snatch grip deadlifts
5 Hang power snatches
5 Overhead Squats

Our grand opening open house is tomorrow! Bring your friends, enjoy some brew, and play around in the gym. We are already putting the beer to good use :) Kamal gets 91 lb pony keg up, ended up at 99.5 lbs for a new PR!

The crew push pressing away at noon on Friday. Congrats to Tom for finishing his first four classes at CrossFit Portland. Looking forward to seeing him progress as he turns it up!

“Karen” was wicked. Adam sets a new gym record at a fast 6:25 on it. Mary, on her second workout, gets it done under 6 minutes! We scaled it appropriately for her by reducing the weight of the ball and still managing a tough workout. Mary is also a natural overhead squatter. Great mobility through the thoracic spine and hips to support the load.

Tonight, we paired up and raced around the block with farmer’s walk, deadlifts, and push ups. This one sneaked up on you.


The finisher was spicy. 10 Rounds, 10 seconds of floor L-Sit/20 seconds rest.

Sorry, no photos of the deadlifts yet from tonight but I got a good feeling some PRs were set. Earlier in the day though, Kamal increased his OHS PR from 170 to 200! His BW is 165-170 so this was a HUGE breakthrough.

CrossFit Portland Girl’s Day Out #2

WOW! What a great time we had on Saturday learning about our AM (against me) and FM (for me) conversations that we carry on in our minds.  For those women who were new I am proud of you for jumping out of your comfort zone and diving into an actual CrossFit workout!

New Women Only Classes Starting!

Starting this week we will begin offering CF classes JUST FOR WOMEN!!! WOOHOO! We will be doing the same WOD as everyone else that day, but feel free to do it while complaining about your cramps at the same time.

Wednesdays at 7:30pm

Saturdays at 11:15am

Note: The Open House is this Saturday, so we will not be having the Women CrossFit class on 10/25/08.
