CrossFit Classes

Completion of personal training, On Ramp, or a movement assessment is required before participation in classes.

In our small appointment-only CrossFit classes, you will be coached through the movements and the workout. Everything in a class, from the warm-ups, to the skill work, to the workouts, to the targeted mobility work, are all intentionally programmed everyday. You will be constantly challenged and you will be taught exercises that reflect movements in real life and sport.

On Ramp

Lauren’s On Ramp experience from CrossFit Portland on Vimeo.

CrossFit Portland’s On Ramp program is ideal for non-injured individuals who want a life-changing, high commitment fitness experience. In our On Ramp program, you will progress through the basic CrossFit techniques, learn and practice the core skills of CrossFit, and build intensity for the workouts. On Ramp is 3 weeks long, set 3 days a week (MWF), and attendance at all sessions is expected.

You will learn and practice the 9 basic CrossFit movements and a host of other movements we employ in our classes. You will be introduced to the Paleo diet and be responsible for keeping a food log. You will be doing Workouts-of-the-Day scaled to your level and your work capacity and strength will dramatically increase by the end of the program. You will do the “Baseline” workout in your first session and it will also be your last workout of On Ramp so you can objectively see how you have improved.

The On Ramp program takes dedication, hard work, and will show you how to hold yourself accountable for your health and development. You will be ready to jump into our All Levels classes after the completion of On Ramp.

Any missed sessions may require personal training with a trainer to complete the On Ramp program.

Private Training

Crossfit Portland provides 1-on-1 or private group training to anyone seeking an individualized approach to their training goals. Private training has some advantages over working in a group class. The workouts are tailored to your needs specifically – and can be huge in smashing thru plateaus and limitations. Services available with personal training include sport specific training, injury prehabilitation, targeted mobility/flexibility training, structured strength training, coaching in specific areas of interest (Olympic weightlifting, gymnastic strength, kettlebells, Clubbells, and more), individually tailored nutrition programs, and recovery and endocrine function monitoring thru our naturopathic partner…. more details

Distance Coaching

We can help you reach your training goals from anywhere in the world! You will consult with our coaches regarding your specific training situation and goals and we will provide you with a customized training program that will vary over time as you gain strength and capacity. We take into account monitoring your diet, your work and life stresses, and what kind of schedule and equipment you have available to train in preparing your program. If you are a capable and self-motivated individual, this is a less expensive and great way to be privately coached, to be held accountable, and also have flexibility in your training schedule.

Biosignature Profiling

Biosignature modulation is a technique developed by renowned strength coach Charles Poliquin. In a nutshell, it involves measuring skinfold thickness at a number of sites around the body. The ratios between the different sites are indicative of the individual’s hormonal status. As an example, if you have too much stress in your life (of any form), then your cortisol levels will be abnormally high. This will lead to fat storage primarily in the abdominal region. Other sites can assess testosterone, estrogen, thyroid function, insulin levels, and growth hormone status.

By looking at the ratios, we can make changes in the diet, correct vitamin and mineral deficiencies, or recommend additional medical tests. This can improve health, and either accelerate fat loss or muscle gain, depending on your goals. For those chasing optimal athletic performance, this is a powerful tool to monitor and accelerate recovery.
