Running Programs
Running is a fundamental movement that many people come to dread, either because of the perceived effort or because of injuries and pain. Our attitude is that running should be simple and painless at the very least, and at its best an enjoyable and efficient process.
To that end, Crossfit Portland offers a variety of clinics, workshops, classes and individual coaching for those wanting to improve their running skill. All of our running technique programs are informed by Dr. Nicholas Romanov’s Pose Method of Running.

Half-day Mini-Clinics
Our Half-day Mini-clinic is a 4-hour-long information-intensive class. The Pose Method of Running is introduced through a mix of lecture, demonstrations and drills. Clinic participants are given training documentation and a basic running gait analysis. The goal of the mini-clinic is to provide participants with a basic working knowledge of Pose running, as well as appropriate resources for further development of running as a skill.
6-week Workshops
The 6-week Running and Endurance Workshop builds on the Mini-clinic. Workshop participants attend a Half-day Mini-clinic as their first class. The five remaining in-gym classes provide further reinforcement and development of the techniques introduced in the initial class. Secondary topics are included, covering recovery strategies, appropriate strength training for runners, pacing and nutrition. Running gait analysis is continued throughout the workshop. Participants are provided with online training documentation, workout tracking, and an informal, once a week track session. The basic programming concepts developed by Crossfit Endurance are introduced.
Each 6-week Workshop is scheduled to end with a local 5k road race to provide participants a test of their ability.
Skill Maintenance Classes
The Skill Maintenance Class is a once-a-month, limited-attendance class for previous attendants of a clinic or workshop. Skill development is a continual process, and coaching is a good way of speeding this process along. Class attendees can expect to have a video running gait analysis performed, and skill drills offered to correct any errors.
Private Coaching
Running classes are taught by Madoc Yng-Wong. Madoc holds certifications as a Crossfit Level One trainer, a Crossfit Endurance trainer. He is a Pose Level One running coach.
