Jay “Trainer” Tieder

Jay “Trainer” Tieder loves training especially burpees and Olympic Lifts. First introduced to the Olympic lifts while in San Francisco in the late 90’s, it later paid off while pursuing a degree in medicine. His passion for lifting landed him a gig as Assistant Strength Coach at the Univ of Pennsylvania, in exchange for platform time and protein shakes. Realizing he loved science and biology more then medicine, he received his MS in Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics at Drexel University, where he was the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for 3 years. Jay is currently the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Portland. Working primarily with women’s hoops, baseball, tennis and track and field. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and USAWeightlifting Senior Coach, Jay enjoys cooking, snuggling with his cats and NY Times crossword puzzles when he’s not at the gym.
